A bamboo forest that borders her studio, inspired Robyn Ellenbogen to create an ongoing series of artist books.  Bamboo slip books were the earliest form of book making in China and Japan prior to the invention of paper. Sun Tzu’s, ” The Art of War’” was written on bamboo slips. Ellenbogen’s  bamboo books incorporate various media, animation, textiles and metal-point and  ink drawings and encaustic, creating rich surfaces.
